Dip your fingers into creative programming. We’ll use a visual coding environment to investigate coding concepts and interactive design. Each student will program an interactive story that conveys his/her own artistic voice. Imagine elements on a web page that change based on body movement or voice. We’ll then show some basic HTML/CSS to publish each young makers creations for family and friends to interact with from home.
Tuesday: PROGRAMMING PHYSICAL OBJECTS
Discover the animating world of sensors, motors, and microcontrollers with LEGO Wedo. A Rube Goldberg Machine that moves between the digital and physical worlds will be our project of the day.
Everything is how someone chose to design it. How would you design things differently? We will inspire you to engineer communication devices of the future using a microcontroller, sound recording software, and various provided materials. We'll pose questions together about the purpose and shape of traditional objects.
Thursday: 3D MODELING & PRINTING
How would you design invisible things into objects we can hold? Think ultrasound, micro-organisms, bacteria, or the sound of your own voice? We will challenge you to 3D model these invisible shapes and show you how to use the 3D printer. Want something that no one else has? Model it, print it, and take it home. Welcome to the future.
Friday: INVENTING ELECTRONICS
Get your hands dirty soldering and building your own gadget. Our project of the day will be designing a light sensitive paper lamp to brighten your bedroom. We’ll introduce concepts in circuits and how to construct switches. Take home what you make.
